The Ninja Lab

Envisaged as an immersive training environment, The Ninja Lab obstacle gym reinterprets the intensity of ninja sport through a disciplined yet expressive spatial language. The design is anchored in the brand’s primary palette: a vibrant red and deep black, where red embodies energy and action, while black provides contrast and visual control. Together, these colours establish a bold, high-impact environment that reflects the brand’s dynamic and playful identity.

The arrival sequence is defined by a saturated red envelope, creating an immediate sense of momentum and anticipation. Above, a blacked-out ceiling plane recedes to conceal exposed services, allowing the space to read as clean, deliberate, and immersive. Integrated within this setting, bespoke joinery serves both retail and display functions, with curated trophy installations that transform the brand’s achievements into spatial artefacts.

At the core of the reception, a bespoke counter acts as a sculptural focal point. A wavy mirrored panel introduces movement and reflectivity, abstracting the form of the shuriken — a recurring reference within the project. This reference is further articulated through subtle silver accents along the adjoining bench, reinforcing a cohesive material and conceptual language.

As the space unfolds, the interior is organized into a sequence of performance zones. The ninja rig was developed through careful spatial planning and design coordination, ensuring precise clearances and seamless integration of the rig within the overall environment. The obstacle system is modular, allowing for reconfiguration and varied training experiences that sustain engagement over time. Lighting is treated as both functional and expressive. Linear pendant fixtures are suspended in a precise composition that traces the geometry of a shuriken, reinforcing the project’s recurring reference while animating the ceiling plane with dynamic form.

The training sequence concludes in the warped wall—a defining architectural and athletic feature that anchors the obstacle course. Together with the handstand and pull-up zones, the space is choreographed to support movement, progression, and challenge, while maintaining visual clarity and cohesion.
