Untether
In a compact apartment reimagined for a modern bachelor, Untether explores the spatial and emotional lightness that comes from lifting the expected off the ground. Eschewing the conventional layout of living and dining zones, the design instead carves out a floating study table suspended from the ceiling, serving as a sculptural gesture that anchors the space while never touching it.
A similar approach is applied to the built-in daybed, which hovers subtly above the floor, doubling as both lounge and seat. Together, these suspended elements break from traditional spatial logic, allowing the floor to breathe and visually expanding the room’s perceived volume.
Materiality plays a quiet yet deliberate role. Fluted wood panels line the walls, introducing rhythm and warmth, while a deep green textured wallpaper wraps the space in a moody, tactile calm. The palette evokes stillness, drawing focus to the interplay between grounded materials and elevated forms.
Every line, edge, and finish is measured for balance. A compact home designed not to feel less, but to feel freer.
Fluted panels were used to introduce a rhythm of texture, balancing the smoothness of sheer drapery that filters daylight.
The monochromatic abstract sets a dynamic yet understated backdrop.
