Ochre Retreat
Conceived for a young couple, the residence embraces a modern Japandi sensibility, where clean architectural lines are softened by the warmth and tactility of natural materials. A neutral, earthy palette grounds the interior, allowing layers of texture to emerge through rattan, suar wood, limewashed surfaces, and linen, creating a space that feels both calm and lived-in.
The living area is anchored by a custom-designed rattan-clad media console, introducing a handcrafted quality that resonates throughout the home. A continuous joinery plane conceals a discreet access point to the private quarters, maintaining spatial clarity while allowing the architecture to read as a cohesive whole. Subtle detailing and material transitions lend depth without disrupting the overall sense of calm.

Within a compact footprint, the dining area is carefully resolved to accommodate a six-seater setting without compromising openness. A mirrored surface extends sightlines and enhances spatial perception, while integrated seating with concealed storage supports both functionality and comfort. This allows the space to adapt seamlessly between everyday use and hosting.
The kitchen is designed with both utility and atmosphere in mind. In response to the absence of natural ventilation, a specially sourced ceiling light with an integrated fan was implemented. Making a statement of function and character, it is an understated detail that reflects the project’s attention to lifestyle-driven solutions.
The study is conceived as a multifunctional retreat, blending work, leisure, and music within a single, thoughtfully composed space. A bespoke desk serves as the centerpiece, meticulously crafted to integrate a hidden drawer designed to house a keyboard piano. This equips the area to seamlessly transition between professional workspace and creative hobby zone.
Wall-mounted monitors frame the desk, reinforcing the room’s dual purpose while maintaining a clean, uncluttered aesthetic. Materials and finishes are carefully selected to resonate with the broader desert-toned palette of the home, while the custom joinery emphasizes precision and proportion, anchoring the room with a sense of order and refinement.

Throughout the home, design decisions are guided by clarity, material honesty, and quiet intention. This results in an environment that is at once refined, functional, and deeply attuned to the rhythms of daily living.
